Herbert Allen McBride November 17, 1934 – December 29, 2017

Herbert Allen McBride, aged 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29th, 2017 at his home in Hartford, N.B. surrounded by his family.
Herb was born on November 17th, 1934 to Ralph and Josie (Harris) McBride. He and his 9 brothers were raised primarily in the farmhouse on Connell Road. At the age of 18 he met his soulmate Eleanor, married her in 1954 and spent the best part of 63 years raising their 8 children. Herbert, a strong, hard-working man, was a great provider for his family, spending most of his life working in the woods. Herbert and Eleanor and their family enjoyed wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and travelling to the west. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Herb will be dearly missed by his wife Eleanor (Polchies); their children Elizabeth, Karen, Allan (Dianne), Roxanne, Peggy (Clifford), Kelly (David), Natalie, and Blake (Michelle); 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brothers Donald (Emily), Richard (Mary), Allison (Carolyn), Earle (Janet), Ronald (Coleen), Gary, Terry (Ethel), sister-in-law Gwen McBride, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Herb was predeceased by brothers Albert, David, Clinton, and Arnold, and sister-in-law Barbara.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private ceremony will be held at Culberson Funeral Home for the immediate family. Interment at a later date at the Catholic Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock. If so desired, donations may be made to NB Extra Mural, NB Red Cross, or the IWK Children’s Fund.
The McBride family would like to express their appreciation to Extra Mural, Red Cross, Woodstock First Nations’ Chief and Council, and Doctors Michael Perley, Gregory Thompson, and Amanda Cassie.
