It is with heavy hearts the family announce the
passing of Harold Joyce of Mactaquac, NB, on Wednesday February 22,
2017 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital. Harold was born July 3,
1927 in Saint John NB, a son of late Frank and Mary (Brideau) Joyce
and was the husband of the late Ardith (Bailey)
Joyce.
Harold was employed as a Printer for 38 years with
the Daily Gleaner and the Telegraph Journal/Evening Times
Globe.
He was a member of the Fredericton Amateur Speed
Skating Club, as well as a Lifetime Associate Member. Harold was a
well known Speed Skater who participated in many meets over his
skating career in the Maritimes and New York. He also was a member of
the NB Speed Skating Team that competed in the Senior Olympics held
in Quebec City. Until last year, Harold has been present at
the Short Track Invitational Meet named after him, to present the
Medals.
He is survived by his children Donald (Louise),
Robert (Kim), Margo (Darlene); grandchildren Caleb, Bailey, Kasey,
David and Kelly; great grandchildren Sawyer, Zander, Lincoln and
Addison; nephew Gary; niece Pam. Predeceased by a brother Frank and a
sister Madeline.
Following cremation, a celebration of
Harold’s life will be held at Bishop’s Funeral
Home, 540 Woodstock Road on Saturday February 25, 2017 from 2
– 4 PM & 6 – 9 PM. Interment of ashes will
be held at a later date in the Sunny Bank
Cemetery.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the
Fredericton Amateur Speed Skating
Club.
