George Lykke Sorensen – 1932 – 2017

Obituary of George Sorensen
Sorensen: George Lykke, recently of Dresden and formally of London, ON passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 84. Born in Regina, son of the late Harold and Paula (Kynderson) Sorensen. George was a Corporal in the Canadian Army and proudly served as a paratrooper in the Korean War. He served with the London Fire Department for 32 years. George finished his career as a Captain at London Fire Station #8, Western Road, London. Beloved husband of Joan Elaine (Gebbie) Sorensen. Loving dad of Brian Sorensen (Kathy), Kate Whatley (John), Darcy Chelchowski (Bill) and Kelly Wicks (Dennis). Cherished grandpa to Rebecca, Dennis, Jonathon, Amy, Jayson, Nicky, Jessie, Ashley, Johnny, Ericka, Alan and 10 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Helma and his daughter Susan. George had a wonderful sense of humour, with such a kind and loving soul and will be greatly missed by his family. Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 113, Dresden on Sunday, July 9th, 2017. If desired, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Online donations and condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome. Arrangements are entrusted to Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Chatham-Kent Hospice and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sydenham Campus for their kindness, great care and compassion.
