Frederick Fred Ernest Whitenect – 2017

Frederick «Fred» Ernest Whitenect
Frederick «Fred» E. Whitenect, 91, of Peoples Park
Tower and formerly of Lewisville, passed away peacefully at The
Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. He was a «true
gentleman» and enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life, which included
a love for music and travel, until his passing.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Frederick and
Emma (Paige) Whitenect. Fred was proudly retired from the Department
of Transportation (Telecommunications) at The Moncton Airport. He was
a member of St. George’s Anglican Church where he was a
choir member for many years. He was an active participant in
Charlie’s Angels Round Dance and Hogan’s Heroes
Square Dance Clubs. He enjoyed lawn bowling, and was especially proud
to represent New Brunswick at the Nationals, as well as being an
honorary life time member of the Moncton Lawn Bowling Club, but most
importantly he enjoyed spending time with his much loved family,
especially his children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Fred will be sadly missed by his children, Brian of Moncton,
Steven (Dianne) of Fredericton, Robert (Judy) of Grimsby, ON, Debra
Tower (Gerald) of Dartmouth, NS, Cheryl(Cherie) Perry of Riverview and
Barbara Whitenect (Colombe) of Deer Island; precious grandchildren,
Matthew Whitenect (Kristen), Andrew Perry (Laura), Abigail Hoeflaak
(Bill), Patricia Lynn Sullivan (Ryan), Christopher Perry (Bronwyn),
Noah Whitenect , Amanda Pidberezny (Mark), Kyle Hukezalie (Amanda),
Ashley Perry and David Tower; cherished great grandchildren, Cohen,
Bridget, Khael, Michael, Benjamin, Jake, Charlotte, Hayden, Jaxon,
Chase, Fiona, Ryder, Ethan, Cohen, Declan, Emily and Joshua. He was
the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by «the
love of his life», Norma E. (Huxsel) Whitenect (October 2014);
great grandson, Rhys; sister, Margaret Webb and brother in law
Maurice, and brother, John Whitenect and sister in law
Catherine.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to
celebrate and honour Fred’s life will be held at St.
George’s Anglican Church, 51 Church St., on
Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with The Reverend Chris VanBuskirk
officiating. Reception in the church hall to follow the service.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
In Fred’s memory, donations can be made to Rhys’Run
(the Friends of The Moncton Hospital) or a memorial of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online
condolences for the family can be made at
