On Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 at her home in Embassy Hall at Shannex in the Valley, surrounded by her family, Freda Marion Steeves, 89, of Quispamsis, NB peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served so faithfully. Born in Belleisle Creek, NB she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Loretta (Northrup) Long.
Freda will be sadly missed by her sister Hazel Wickens of Calgary, AB; four surviving children, Stan Jr. (Louise) of Quispamsis, Len (Sue), Larry (Carol) both of London, ON, Sherry (Mike) McCormick of Quispamsis and Son-In-Law Sgt. Edward (Ted) Stoneham of Fredericton; her 14 grandchildren and many great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Steeves Sr.; 6 brothers, Harold, Ralph, Lawrence, Clarence, John and Wesley Long; two daughters; Aerona Steeves and Bonny Stoneham.
Freda was married 23 days less than 50 years to the love of her life Stanley Steeves Sr.. Freda and Stan co-owned Sandy Point Grocery on Sandy Point Road and Nan & Gramps General Store on Union & Coburg Street. She loved Southern Gospel Music, decorating for Christmas and was an amazing cook. Freda was an avid crocheter and in recent years, she made an afghan for each of her 14 grandchildren. She was a member of Kings Way Assembly.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd (646-2424) with visiting on Thursday, November 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home on Friday, November 10th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery, Apohaqui, NB.
The family would like to thank the staff of 5CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital and staff of Embassy Hall, Shannex in the Valley, Mom’s home and extended family for the past year. We will be forever grateful for the care, love and compassion that was shown to her.
