Florence Catherine ‘Claire’ Peterson
1953-2017
PETERSON, Florence Catherine «Claire»- Age 63,
Little Narrows, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the Victoria
County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Sydney she was a daughter
of the late Alexander and Cecelia (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Claire was employed with Midway Motors in Middle River for 35
years. She was a member of St. Columba Parish, Iona. Claire grew up in
Little Narrows and moved to Middle River after her marriage and then
moved back to Little Narrows in 2007 to be close to her family. Claire
was almost like a second mother to her special nieces and nephews and
grandnieces and nephews. She showered them with love, kindness and her
generosity, spending quality time and many vacations together. P.E.I.
will never be the same.
Surviving are her loving husband of 44 years, Edwin;
mother-in-law, Eleanor Peterson, Middle River; sisters, Mora (Dougie)
Nicholson, Sandra (Charlie) Ellis, both of Little Narrows; brother,
Donnie «D.J.» (Phyliss), Fredericton Junction; she
was very special to nieces, Charlene, Donna, Lorraine; nephews,
Gerard, Danny and Michael; grandnieces and grandnephews, Anita, Evan,
Lauren, Alex, Hannah, Sarah, Katherine «K.K»,
Annabelle. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Edward Peterson;
brother-in-law, Robert Peterson.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 31, 2017, from noon until
time of funeral mass at 2p.m. both in St. Columba Roman Catholic
Church, Iona with Father Paul Abbass officiating. Burial in
McKinnon’s Harbour Cemetery at a later date. Memorial
donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Society or to Victoria
County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Arrangements are under the care and
direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of
