It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of K. Elizabeth (Lyons) Janes on December 28, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Montreal, PQ on October 26, 1934 to the late Everett and Katherine (Meek) Lyons and was the loving wife to her late husband Howard Janes. Elizabeth was employed as a secretary for thirty years, awarded the commemorative Canada 125 Medal in 1992. A member of Portland United Church and sang in the choir for many years. Accompanied For the Friends of Music and was the official accompanist for many years for the New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music and was the pianist for Centenary Queen Square Church for over 10 years.
She is survived by her two sons; Brent (Ann) of Oakville, ON and Bruce (Collette) of Saskatoon, SK, daughter Cheryl (Peter) Kyle of Saint John, NB, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister Eleanor Lowery as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Douglas Lyons.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will take place at Portland United Church, Tuesday January 2, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Interment to be held in Mace’s Bay Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Elizabeth’s memory can be made to the “Friends of Music” April Mills Memorial Trust” of the NB Competitive Festival of Music P.O. Box 2022 Saint John, NB E2L 3T5.
