It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Lisa) Gagnon, born Theodoropoulos.
Lisa passed on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 5:40am, at Clayton Heights Care Home in Surrey. Lisa was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia and succumbed to the disease after a six year battle.
Lisa was born on April 7, 1962 in Montreal, Québec to Thérèse Allard and Teddy Theodoropoulos. She was the oldest of the three children, big sister to her brother Jimmy (deceased), and youngest brother Teddy Jr.
Lisa met her sweetheart, Yves Gagnon (Bobby) in 1989 through family friends. The couple was married, on May 18th, 1991 in New-Westminster.
Married for 26 years, Lisa & Bobby raised their two dear boys Samuel Charles, now 23 and Jacob Jean-Marie, 20, in Maple Ridge. Lisa was immensely proud of their two sons and loved them dearly. She regularly did volunteer work with their sports teams and school.
Known for her ease to make conversations funny and enjoyable for anyone, even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Lisa’s signature gift of joy, shown through her smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
After graduating from Port Coquitlam Sr Secondary School and working as a Clerk at A&E Machinery for many years, she moved to Lac St-Jean with her aunt Agathe and uncle Benoit, whom she loved greatly, and pursued a degree in esthetics. After returning to BC, she started working at Scott Paper, earned a degree in accounting and continued working in the payroll department.
Possessing a true generous heart, Lisa faithfully cared for family and friends through her support and love. She loved to dance, she could have gone to Zumba on a daily basis. She loved to read, to play games/cards, chat with friends and family, and travel…just to name a few.
Lisa spent six years struggling with aphasia and dementia being loved and support by her husband and sons at home for the first three years.
The last three years of her life, Lisa had to be hospitalized as the disease progressed and gained so much control over Lisa’s body and mind, leaving her no room to express herself and shutting her off from all the ones she loved. Truly a sad situation for
someone who was well-known to entertain and be social.
Lisa was active in all aspects of her community lending a helping hand to any that were in need. Due to her truly loving and giving nature, Lisa made many close friends in her much too short life and will be missed by many.
A service for Lisa will be held at Osborn’s Funeral Chapel 11969-216th street Maple Ridge BC on Saturday September 23, 2017 at 12:00pm. There will be a visitation period and viewing from 10:00 am till 11:45 with a reception to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Donations can be made by phone (1-800-616-8816) or online via the Alzheimer Society of Canada website.
