Dorothy “Dot” Gering
November 5, 1936 – November 7, 2017
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Gering of Edson, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Dot was born at Leduc, Alberta to Mary and August Posein on November 5, 1936 one of a family of 12 children. Dot met the love of her life Allen Gering and they were married on November 25, 1955. To this union, three children were born. In November of this year, Dot and Allen celebrated 62 years together. Dot adored her family. She was often found sharing stories about them with anyone who would listen. Dot also enjoyed spending time bowling, playing the guitar, singing, drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting, reading, going for drives and of course, playing cards. She was well known for her love of baking and always made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Dot always had a smile on her face and much laughter to share and was quick to offer her famous advice… “Just do the best you can!” Her heartwarming smile and kind generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Dorothy will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband Allen, her much loved children; Marlene (Rod), Donna (Jim) and Cindy (Bruce) and by her grandchildren; Carmen, Nolan, Candice and Tracy, great–grandchildren; Turner, Connor, Noah, Lily, Ruby, Hunter, Vanessa, Hannah, and Gideon. Dot is also survived by siblings Ronny, Stan, Emma, Evelyn, Val, Irene and all of their families. Dorothy was predeceased by her great-grandchild Emma Lea Bliss as well as siblings Dennis, Rhienhold, Myrtle, Addie and Joyce. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Dot, memorial contributions may be made to can the Alzheimer Society 10531 Kingsway Ave. Edmonton, Alberta T5H 4K1. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Edson Branch # 51 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Kimberly Roy of the Edson United Church officiating. Foothills Memorial Chapel – Edson Funeral Home have been entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements. 780-723-3575.
