Predeceased by 1 great grandson Jeremy Bowley (August 1, 2013), 2 sons-in-law Leith Moorhouse and Gabe Verstichelen, brothers Walter, Alwood, Orlo, Llewellyn and Lloyd Mater and sisters Edna Moore, Ila Burnham and Viola Smale. Mom was born and raised in the Dawn Township area, living and farming within a few miles until 6 years ago. Selling her farm at R.R. #2 Croton and buying a home in Dresden in the fall of 2010. Mom was a farm girl all her life, raising 7 children with very little to work with. Nothing was never too hard for her to accomplish, either outdoors in the fields, helping in the barns, tending to her chickens or working in her home with very limited conveniences. Mom sewed all of our clothing from coats, overalls, suits, wedding attire etc. We didn’t know what boughten clothes were like until we worked out and made our own money. Mom’s prize winning quilts are a masterpiece enjoyed by her children, grandchildren and gifts to each of her great grandchildren. Homemade bread, cinnamon buns and butter tarts were her specialty said all who came to visit. Unannounced on any given Sunday an extra 10 to 15 persons for supper was never turned away and plenty was enjoyed by all. The Barnes family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Thursday from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment in Shetland Cemetery.
