WIGHT, Doris Mabel: Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at the Agnes Pratt Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Predeceased by her parents: Leonard and Effie Wight; brothers: Len, Ches, George, Jim, Ralph and Harvey; infant sister: Jean Wight; sister: Jean Wight; sisters-in-law: Maude, Ella, Madeline and Lotty; brother-in-law: Harve and life-long friend: Mill Rendell. Leaving to mourn her daughter: Tsitsi Loder (Paul); sister: Pearl; brother: Hunter (Jean) and special friend: Ann Saunders, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Doris was a well accomplished woman, who lived life to the fullest, starting with her missionary work in out-port, Newfoundland and then Africa, where she nursed for over 20 years. Upon her return to Newfoundland, with her daughter, Tsitsi, she taught nursing and during her return, she became a united church lay minister. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Agnes Pratt Home for all their care and compassion. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave. on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 and on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00. Funeral service will be held from First United Church on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
