HARPER, Daniel Graham Daniel Graham Harper, from complications of pneumonia on April 18, 2015. Survived by his wife, Carol Anne (nee Rolf); and his beloved son, Geoffrey; his sister, Holly; and her children, Aaron and Emma; his brothers-in-law David Rolf (Margaret) and Douglass Rolf (Patricia), and their children; his mother’s stepsons, John and David Mears; and his father’s wife, Shirley Dowd, and their families. Predeceased by his brother, David Harper; his father, Graham Harper; and his mother, Lynn Mears. Daniel was born in Los Angeles in 1951 and later moved with his family to Vancouver Island where he graduated from Shawnigan Lake School. He attended the Colorado School of Mines, earned a degree in geology from UBC and studied at the Vancouver School of Art before entering the UBC School of Architecture, from which he graduated in 1985. He pursued his great passion for architecture as fully as his multiple sclerosis allowed, and served several terms on the City of Victoria Advisory Planning Commission and the City of Victoria Advisory Design Panel. He lived his life enthusiastically and generously, with humour, courage, and grace, an insatiable curiosity about the world and a genuine interest in others that never waivered. We miss him so very much. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1611 Quadra Street, Victoria at 4 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2015. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
