It is will heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brendan Shields, after a long health battle. During his illness, he never lost his courage or sense of humour. He lived his life with a big heart and unselfish kindness to those he met.
Brendan will be missed and remembered lovingly by his wife of 41 years, Mary and his children John and Jane Marie along with son- in- law Rowell (Nick) and grandsons Connor and Marcus. Many family in Ireland mourn Brendan’s passing including brothers Tom, Sean (Mary), Tony (Mairead) and little sister Betty (Bruno) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Brendan’s Canadian cousins, the Connolly family, who adopted him as a brother on his immigration to Canada, also mourn this loss along with numerous family and friends around the world.
Brendan is predeceased by his Mother, Elizabeth and Father, JJ. Along with his sister Margaret (Peg).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Monday September 18th at 10:30am with internment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that mourners make a donation to a charity of their choice in Brendan’s name.
