B Eileen Hovey 19392017

B. Eileen Hovey
1939-2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Beatrice
«Eileen» Hovey announces her passing on Tuesday,
December 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Eileen was from
the Loch Lomond Village (Maple House) and formerly of Millidgeville,
beloved mother to Mark Hovey (Lisa), Karen Thompson, and Cindy Hovey
(Todd Kent). Born on January 7, 1939 in Saint John, NB, she
was the daughter of the late Ralph S. and F. Eileen (Williams) Miller
and was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Arthur Royden
Hovey.
Eileen, also known as «Twister» by many,
was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School in 1957 and went on to
work with Canadian Red Cross at the D.V.A. Hospital teaching arts and
crafts to World War I, II and Korean War veterans. After
taking time to raise her 3 children, she returned to the work she
loved and split her time between the Saint John Regional Hospital and
Ridgewood Veterans Wing. After her retirement she continued
to volunteer at Ridgewood until her battle with Alzheimer’s
would no longer allow it.
As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Eileen spent her
free time taking care of her family, supporting and driving her
children around to their various sporting activities, playing with her
grandchildren and her favorite fall pastime, making her beloved
pickles.
In addition to her children, Eileen is also survived by her 5
grandchildren: Ashley and Patrick Thompson, Lauren and Caroline Hovey,
and Aristarkh Kent. She was predeceased by her sister,
Natalie Stults and brother, Ralph (Buster) Miller.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Loch Lomond
Village (Maple House) for their compassionate care.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be held at
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB
(634-7424), on Friday December 15 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm, and
the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held St. Pius X Parish,
316 Somerset Street on Saturday December 16 at 9:30am. A private
interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial
Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer
Society or the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation.
