William « Bill » Gerber Obituary
William “Bill” Gerber, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 25, 2025, at Stratford General Hospital at age 94. Loving father of Wayne (Bill), Dan (Verna), and Susan (Britt); grandfather to Matthew (Mariah), Colin (Mariangela), Kimberly (Ian), Kent (Sarah), Andrea (Tory), and Adrienne (Alex); and great-grandfather to Myla. Beloved friend of Marion Faull. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Annie Gerber, and his siblings Mary Steif, Florence Kropf (David), Mattie Bast (Sanford), and Amos Gerber (Mary Ellen).
Bill was born in Ellice Township, Perth County on January 11, 1931. He came to Stratford as a teenager and worked a variety of jobs before landing at FAG Canada (Schaeffler Canada) where he worked for 37 years. He was an avid member of the Avon Trail and the YMCA, and a long-time member of Ontario Street Baptist Church.
Bill led an active lifestyle, enjoying hiking, curling, lawn bowling, soccer, and slow pitch. He enjoyed nature and instilled a love of the outdoors in his family. In retirement, he was a dedicated volunteer, including for the Children’s Aid Society and the YMCA.

Visitation for friends and family will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, March 1, from 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday March 2, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Interment at Poole Mennonite Church Cemetery. Memorial donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Avon Trail or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
