With sadness in our hearts, we would like to share the passing of William “Bill” George Gorski on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 86 years.
Bill was born to Ralph and Mary (Riess) Gorski in Odessa, SK, on October 26, 1938. Growing up on the family farm, he shared many adventures with his three brothers Ernie, Lawrence, and Ralph Jr. and sister Phyllis. Bill was forced at a young age to become the family cook, while his siblings and dad were out in the fields. This led to a lifelong love of everything to do with food which included finding the best deals in the grocery flyers, sharing and trying new recipes and taste testing all types of desserts.
As a young man, Bill’s family moved off the farm and into Regina where he completed Grade 12 at Central Collegiate and got his first job at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He enjoyed all types of sports including baseball, hockey and especially football. He had an amazing memory for statistics that he would happily share with anyone willing to participate in a conversation about his Saskatchewan Roughriders. Bill also enjoyed going on duck and goose hunting trips with his buddies.
In 1963, Bill met the love of his life Elaine, and they were married for 51 years. Elaine passed in 2016. Bill and Elaine had three daughters Debbie (Michael) Shevchuk, Terrilee Gomez-Gorski and Lori Matheson. While raising their young family, he received his Certificate in Administration (Accounting Option) in 1971 from the University of Saskatchewan (Regina Campus). A year later, Bill and his family moved to Saskatoon so their daughter Terrilee could attend the School for the Deaf. While in Saskatoon, he worked at Coop Trust, until he and Elaine decided to sell Real Estate together. In 1994, they moved back to Regina where they greatly enjoyed one of their favorite pastimes – spending time with their family and friends. Over the years their family enjoyed frequent camping trips to Kenosee Lake and everywhere in BC. They were members of the Lions Club and enjoyed curling. Once the kids were grown, Bill and Elaine loved to go to Hawaii.
Bill was very proud and eager to share the adventures and accomplishments of his five grandchildren Jennifer (Dyllan) Worner, Madison (Tom) Shevchuk, Mitchell (Mary) Shevchuk, Abbey Shevchuk, Vanessa Gomez-Gorski and one great granddaughter, Rheid Worner.
He shared his contagious laugh, zest for life and all things family with all who knew him. Bill lived his life to the fullest, led by example and would do anything for anyone.
Please help us celebrate Bill’s life at a Memorial Service being held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Family and Friends wishing to make a donation in memoriam, may do so to the Allan Blair Cancer Center.
