After a life full of love,
Vince Reinsborough passed away peacefully
on January 14, 2025.
Vince was born in Bouctouche, NB, in
1935, to Lawrence and Leona (Michaud) Reinsborough, growing up in
various parts of the province with especially fond memories of
Dalhousie. His education and his first career as a Catholic priest
then took him around the world: earning degrees at the Universities of
Toronto (BA, MA, S.T.B.) and Tasmania (PhD) before settling back in
NB.
Dr. Reinsborough taught Chemistry at
Mount Allison University for 30 years before retiring in 2000. During
his first few years at Mount A, he was the Don of Hunton House. He was
named Professor Emeritus in recognition of his excellence in teaching
and research in physical chemistry. He always had time for his
students and was known for his fairness, compassion, and his caring
nature.
Vince had a knack for finding magic in
the quiet moments: feeding the neighbourhood chickadees, cutting fresh
ski tracks across the lake, telling tuck-in bedtime stories to his
adoring grandkids, going on Sunday family beach outings, tutoring his
children and grandchildren on the craft of making beehive woodpiles,
tending to his treasured garden, and reminiscing about the first time
he met his beloved wife, Anne. When they started a family, he shared
his love of travel with them all, taking them on sabbatical to
England, Germany, and New Mexico.
Vince and Anne (Kiefl), were happily
married for 47 years. Together they raised three children: Michelle
(Ken) Brownlee, Ottawa, Marie (Scott Wadden) Reinsborough-Wadden,
Sackville, and Laura (Chris Eaton) Reinsborough, Ottawa; and were
blessed with 8 grandchildren: Claire, Luke, Callum, Idris, Kate, Adam,
Louis, and Vincent. He was a loving older brother to John (Arleen),
Laurie (Sandra), Dennis (Elizabeth), and Ken (Sally). He also welcomed
Anne’s siblings, their partners and children into his
extended family, and cherished his special relationships with friends,
colleagues, and students.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Home,
Sackville, NB (506) 364-1300 where visiting hours will be held on
Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm. Requiem Mass will
be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday,
January 20, 2025 at 2 pm, Father Carlos Jacinto
officiating.
Donations in his memory may be made to
the charity of your choice.
