Toora Cheverie Obituary
Toora Cheverie (née Hovi) passed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on March 6, 2025, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Cheverie. Loving mother to Sue Wilson (Rick), Janice Deutschmann (Rob), and Karen Finner (Chris). Cherished grandmother of Robert Wilson, Samantha Allard (Corey), Erika Deutschmann, Ariel Deutschmann (Sean Nemmet), Kelsey Deutschmann, Wesley Finner, Chloe Finner and great-grandmother to Jack Allard. She is survived by her sister, Daina Tennant, and predeceased by her parents, Eino and Irja Hovi.
Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, Toora worked as a registered nurse in North Bay before meeting her husband Bill. Due to Bill’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces, they lived in various towns across Ontario and Quebec before settling in Trenton, Ontario. Toora led an active and fulfilling life with interests including art classes, exercise sessions, attending Trenton Golden Hawks hockey games, watching Toronto Blue Jays games on TV, rollerblading and walking in Presqu’ile Provincial Park, bird feeding, solving crosswords puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
At Toora’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, May 24th from 2-4 PM at Weaver Life Centre, 29 Bay Street, Trenton, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to Friends of Presqu’ile and Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation are appreciated by the family.
