In the midst of our grief yet thankful for a life well lived, the family of Terrance Everett Naugler, Rhodes Corner, announces his passing at age 80 on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Bridgewater, he was the only child of the late Elihu and Ruth (Wamboldt) Naugler.
Terry left home as a teenager to find his fortune in Moncton where he met his wife and love of his life, Donna (Neves). While in Moncton, Terry taught himself electronics while working for the CKCW television station. After a few years spent in Moncton and northern New Brunswick, Terry and Donna returned to Rhodes Corner to build their own house in 1969. Terry worked for several industries around Lunenburg County, mostly using his knowledge of electronics and his ability to fix things. This included Acadia Gas Engines in Bridgewater, Add-On Sound in Lunenburg, and Michelin Tires in Bridgewater, where he spent the last 22 years of his career as an electronics technician. Terry always had a business side hustle out of his home. This included Naugler’s Radio and TV in the 1970s and Naugler’s Motor Rewinding in the 1980s. In his later years he developed an interest in woodworking and sold custom furniture through this Heritage Woodshop business, before finally returning to electronics and selling custom fabricated radio and amplifier chassis on-line through this business Seaside Music which received custom orders from around the world. Terry retired from Michelin Tires at the young age of 58 and had the next 22 years to indulge his passions of music and antique cars.
Although he was always musical, he dove into this headfirst after retirement, mastering the fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. He played regularly with the Bluenose Fiddlers along with his wife and regularly performed in his church and in nursing homes and even recorded a CD of gospel songs with his band, The Grace Notes. He built a post-and-beam music room addition to his house and a post-and-beam woodshop both with wood he cut and milled himself. When he wasn’t playing music, he was in his garage restoring antique cars. He always had at least one restoration in progress and enjoyed going for drives with his wife. Terry’s three children grew up in the house he built and in time this house became a gathering place in the summer for his grandchildren and ever growing extended family. Terry instilled a sense of curiosity and self-reliance in his family. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his many friends and large extended family.
Terry is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Roxanne (Billy), Conquerall Bank; sons, Christopher (Pennie), Calgary; Scott (Bettina), Ottawa; grandchildren Angus, Griffin, Emma, Jaxson, Maya, Karmen, Ava; step grandchildren Kyra, Emily, Samantha, Warren; step great grandson, Preston, and brother-in-law, Rance (Grace) Neves.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place. An update of service details will be shared at a later date.
Memorial donations to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rhodes Corner would be appreciated by the family.
