TAMARA ORYSIA HOLADYK-NARDINI
November 15, 1988 – January 8, 2025
Heartbroken and with unspeakable sorrow we announce the passing of our dear Tamara after a tragic accident at the Valley Park Pool on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Tamara Orysia Holadyk attended Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic School from ECE to Grade 8 where she met her dearest friends whose friendships have endured to this day. Tamara went on to St. Thomas More Secondary School graduating on the Dean’s Honour Roll. She went on to McMaster University where she majored in Social Sciences and graduated with a 4 year Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree. Tamara was accepted to Teacher’s College at the University of Toronto (OISE) where she focused on Women’s Studies. She was excited to be hired as a supply teacher by the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board, and then being granted a full time position at Bishop Ryan Secondary School where she was employed till present day, and where she met the love of her life Alex.
Tamara is deeply mourned by her husband Alex Mercuri Nardini, his mother Mary Nardini (Felix deceased), his sister Ashley (Sam Castiglione) and nieces Alessia and Vienna Castiglione, plus the Nardini and Mercuri families who share our sorrow.
Tamara also leaves behind her parents Zenon and Mary Holadyk and her sister Oksana. Deeply saddened also are the Holadyk, Trach and Burak families. Left behind to miss her are Tamara’s two Godsons, Levko Pylypec and Matthew Taylor whom she loved dearly.
Growing up, Tamara was active in many sports activities. Her favourites were softball, waterpolo and soccer. She also loved to dance and was a member of Kalyna, a semiprofessional Ukrainian Dance Ensemble who performed at many weddings, dances and festivals.
As an educator, she put her heart and soul into making her lessons interesting while following course outlines. She also liked to have fun with her students by dressing up for Halloween and decorating the classroom door for special occasions-she felt students needed to work together as a team and enjoy a stress free day every once in awhile. Tamara valued the relationship she had with her colleagues. She looked up to them with great respect, admiration and viewed them as friends and mentors. Tamara’s future goals in education included pursuing leadership roles and administration.
Tamara was a loving, caring and generous person who was always ready to help wherever needed. She loved to travel and visited many countries marveling at the architecture and beauty of other lands. She had a great sense of humour, loved classic movies, all kinds of music, art, her cat Milosz and of course Alex. Tamara’s last gift was the donation of her kidneys to others in need.
Visitation will be at the Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East, Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Monday, January 13, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:30pm. Panachyda on Monday, January 13 at 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, 15 St. Olga Street (at Barton Street East) Hamilton, Ontario on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at 10:00 am followed by interment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Stoney creek.
