Stephen Hickey of
Riverview passed away peacefully with his parents at his side at The
Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2025,
after a long and courageous battle with several medical
conditions.
He was a true local
and Canadian sports fan. He with his dad rarely missed a Wild Cats
game, Stephen loved to cheer on the Habs and the Toronto Blue
Jays,
Born in Corner Brook
NL, he was the son of Leo and Geraldine (Dalton) Hickey. Aside from
his parents he will be dearly missed by his brother, Craig (Amey), his
nephew Darcy, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and
cousins. This includes two special aunts (Marg and Beth
Dalton), whom Stephen looked forward to for his nightly Skype calls,
receiving lots of comfort, encouragement and prayers.
Stephen moved to Riverview at the age of nine, but always considered
his Newfoundland roots « home », where he will be returned for
his final resting place.
The family will be
receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview on Thursday, January
16th from 6-8 PM, with parish prayers and sharing of memories to take
place from the funeral home at 7:30 PM. Following which his body will
be forwarded to Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood, NL, where
visitation will take place on Sunday from 2 PM – close. The
funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic
Church Harbour Main, NL on Monday, January 20, 2025. Online

Canada or to a charity of donor’s choice.
