Sharon Reimer (Kozak) Obituary
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and friend Sharon Reimer on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 80 years. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. held at Territorial Drive Alliance Church with Pastor Keith Klippenstein officiating. A Private Family Interment will follow at the City Cemetery.
Sharon Marlene Woolsey was born on June 17, 1944 in Tisdale Sk, to Harvey and Stella Woolsey. She grew up on the family farm just north of Somme, Sk. She met her first husband Boden Kozak at the Prairie River Sports Day and they were married on May 21, 1966, living in Prongua, Flin Flon, and Creighton before moving to North Battleford in 1974. Kim, Kevin and Todd kept them busy with school events, sports and dance growing up and Mom was there for almost every event. She was a stay-at-home mom until all the kids were in school, then went back to work starting with just one day a week at Public Health as a receptionist. It grew to be full time over the years and she loved it, especially when she could weigh and measure the babies that came in for their appointments. She worked there until she retired.
Mom loved her kids, but when the grandchildren arrived it was a whole new ball game. She adored her grandbabies and they knew it. She loved to have them come over and spend the day with her, or take them to the Co-op cafeteria for lunch. She had their photos all over her house and she was more than happy to brag about each one of them to anyone who asked. She was proud of all five of them and when her great-granddaughter was born, it was like she’d won the lottery. Family was important to Mom and we knew we were loved.
Dad died in 2006 after a battle with Multiple Myeloma and it was her grandchildren that kept her going in the years that followed. However, in 2014, she met Dick Reimer and on July 4, 2015 they were married here in North Battleford. Mom and Dick had almost seven years together and they made the most of them, traveling to various places to see family and friends. Dick gained an instant family and they loved hosting Christmas and other special occasions at their home. Mom was happy again and we loved knowing she wasn’t alone.
Dick passed away in May 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Mom was dealing with some major health issues at the time and the next few months were challenging for her as she dealt with not only her grief, but needing to start dialysis and then recovering from a broken hip. She was in Saskatoon for 4 months and came back to her home just three weeks before her granddaughter’s wedding.
Mom has been well cared for by all her medical teams, especially in these last two years. She loved the nurses in the Dialysis unit at BUH, often teasing or joking with them while she was there. Home Care allowed her to live independently in her own home and she enjoyed their visits. We are also so grateful to her close friends here in town, who also made sure Mom had what she needed to live on her own.
Mom loved hockey, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and curling. She loved coffee with friends, going for drives to look at the changing leaves or seeing Christmas lights, and Chinese food. She had so many great friends that she stayed in contact with over the years and she loved to fill us in on their lives after she’d talked with them. She also loved Jesus and her faith in God was evident over the entire course of her life. She believed strongly in the power of prayer and we knew that she prayed for each one of us every day. She loved her family deeply her entire life and we will miss her every day. We are so grateful that we had her for so many years.
Sharon is survived by her children: Kim (Brad) Dyck, Kevin, and Todd (Jodie); by her grandchildren: Breanna Adams, Payton Dubrule, Katie (Ethan) Jones, Jonathan Dyck and Jacob Kozak; great-granddaughter, Brynley Adams; her siblings: Sandra (Russ) Piers, Darwin (Robyn) Woolsey, Dianne Woolsey, Roxanne (Lee) Mamer; her brothers in law: Bill Kozak, Andy Klotz, Albert Reimer, Jack (Dorothy) Reimer and Jim (Elaine) Reimer; her sister in law Rita Kozak as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband’s Boden Kozak and Dick Reimer, her infant daughters Michelle and Twyla, her parents Harvey and Stella Woolsey, her infant brother Duane, her brothers in law Elk Kozak, Alex Kozak, Nick Kozak, Mike Kozak and Matt Kushniruk, her sisters in law Jean Kozak, Amy Kozak, Bernice Kozak, Olga Kushniruk and Shirley Reimer.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to the Diabetes Canada 1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 2R5 or to the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation (formerly BUH Foundation) designated to the Dialysis Unit – Po Box 1358 North Battleford, SK S9A 3L8.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Tim Scaife Funeral Director.
