Benevides, Serafim “Serf”
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Serafim on October 25, 2025, at 64 years of age. Cherished husband of Mary for 44 years. Loving father of Kevin (Isabel), Jessica (Zak) Khumalo, and Sara (Daniel) Garay. Loving Vovô of Gabriella, Cristiano, Angelina, Matteo, Zakes, Benicio, and Zenzo. Dear brother of John (the late Anna), Lurdes (John), Belmira, and Isabel (Tony). He will be sadly missed by all his nieces, his extended family and many dear friends.
Serafims greatest joy in life was his family — especially his seven grandchildren, who were the light of his life and the reason behind his every smile. Being their Vovô was his most cherished role, one that brought him endless pride, laughter, and purpose. They were his strength through every challenge, his motivation to keep fighting, and his reminder of life’s greatest blessings.
Though he faced many health battles, Serafim met each one with remarkable courage, resilience, and an unshakable spirit. He was a fighter to the very end — tough, determined, and full of heart. Despite his struggles, he never lost his humor or his ability to make those around him smile.
Special thank you to the Doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital – ICU, for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 440 King St. E., Hamilton.
Procession to Gate of Heaven Cemetery to follow.
