PARMAR, SARASWATI (SARSU)
Saraswati Parmar, known to all as Sarsu, of Warsaw, passed away at the age of 79 at Campbellford Memorial Hospital on February 11th, 2025. Daughter of the late Bhagwanji and Vijayaben Jethwa, sister of late brother Chandu Jethwa. Loving wife of Batook Parmar. Dear mother of Sachin Parmar (wife Nila Parmar), and Bhavin Parmar (partner Emily Darfler), doting grandmother of Ariya Saraswati Parmar and Avani Parvati Parmar. Sarsu is survived by her brother Raju (wife Bharti), and sisters Kala (husband Rajesh), Shobna (husband Shanti), and Sheila (husband Rashmi), and nieces and nephews Praful, Shreeya, Priya, Paresh (wife Preena), Amit (wife Toral), Rakhee (husband Simon), Sangeeta (husband Hardeep), Trusha (husband David), and Meera (husband Michael). Sarsu will be dearly missed by many grand nieces and nephews, as well as many more close family and friends.
Sarsu was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya on February 2nd, 1946. The eldest of seven brothers and sisters, Sarsu took on parental roles at a young age when her mother fell ill. She remained a mother figure to her siblings throughout her life and to many other friends and family who treated her as such – they lovingly called her Sarsuben as a sign of their deep respect for their sister. As a young adult, she moved to Maidstone, Kent in England and helped pave the way for her family to settle there. She married in Canada and settled in Toronto, Ontario where she had two sons whom she adored. They moved to the small town of Warsaw, Ontario in 1989 where they owned and operated the only general store in the town. Sarsu was beloved by all her customers and townspeople and was known as an extremely hard worker who was kind and generous to all. She was deeply proud of her two sons and two granddaughters – she was always excited to share news about them to her many customers and friends. Sarsu will be missed by many who were lucky enough to have their lives touched by her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES – LAKEFIELD CHAPEL. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Hendren Funeral Home, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the Alzheimer Society of Canada by visiting the funeral home website at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com , or by calling 705 652-3355.
