Robert (Bob) Alexander Sturrock
April 8 1931 – Feb 25 2025
Passed away peacefully at age 93 after a tragic fall at a Subway station. It is comforting to know that his Son Gerry was at his side when he passed peacefully. Honored to be son of Mary (Mae) & Harry Sturrock. They were brave, highly principaled, young Scottish immigrants who met & married in Toronto in 1929. Proud father to Steven Robert (Helen), Gerald Joseph (Marites) & Sharon Lynn; his adopted daughter, Debbie Biarnason (Ken). Dear Grandfather to Gerrys’ children Gema & Shane (Grace) & Sherry’s children Kerrie & Kyle. Great Grandfather to Kerrie’s daughter’s, Calie & Angelica. Grandfather to Debbie’s daughter’s Tanya & Shelby, Great Grandson’s Liam & Cade. Loving sister Sandra & his nephew Jeff & niece’s Kim, Kelly & Katie loved him very much.
Bob grew up in the East end of Toronto, spent many yrs living in Vancouver & moved back to Ontario into a Penthouse Condo about 25yrs ago. Bob was a very hard worker & had a very successful career in Sales & Sales Mgmt with 3M, Xerox & retired as a top salesman with Heidelberg Canada. With seemingly endless energy, Bob carried working after retirement at Thornhill Ladies Golf Club and Angus Glen. Then he was so proud to wear the uniform of Commisionaires for 10 yrs working at the Gov’t offices, and finally retired in his early 80’s.
Throughout his life Bob was an avid athlete. As a young man he enjoyed baseball, rugby, football and hockey. He was particularly proud of his years with The East Enders Football Club. Bob enjoyed tennis and curling. As well Bob was a lifelong golfer, and a pretty good one at that. Bob’s greatest joy was Golf & his goal was to play some of the best courses in the world & he reached that goal. He enjoyed being a Caddy in the Canadian Open in the 60’s in B.C. He was both a gentle man and a gentleman, who treated all who crossed his path with kindness and respect. Bob’s caring and energetic spirit will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
As per our Dad’s wishes there will be no service or ceremony. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
