In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) John Johnson
November 2, 1940 – January 7, 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bob Johnson after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Stouffville to the late Jack and Jean (Davis) Johnson and raised on the family farm in Markham, Dad was deeply proud of his family heritage and held a special place in his heart for the land his family farmed for over seven generations. Though he chose a different path, forging a successful career in the automotive industry, he remained connected to his roots.
Dad was the eldest of three children, beloved brother to Betty Jean Manders (John, 2001) and Sharon Brown (Bill). Dad married a fun loving Markham girl, Janet Black, in 1967 and for 47 years raised their family until her passing in 2014. Dad will be greatly missed by his three children, Kelly Scott (Andy), Jennifer, and Blair (Kelly) as well as his four grandkids, Reagan and Owen Scott, and Evan and Connor Johnson.
In recent years, Bob found happiness again with Valerie Walters Snow, and they enjoyed entertaining and traveling together in his final years, including a memorable trip to England to visit Valerie’s family.
Bob, or « Uncle Bob » to nieces, nephews, friends, and Valerie’s family, will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his willingness to lend a hand to others, and his ability to tinker and fix just about anything. Dad’s genuine care for others will be remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him.
A very special thanks to the staff members at Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket for their kind and compassionate care in his final days.
