Dear Nora and family,
I just heard from a sailing buddy that he saw Bob’s obituary in the Times Colonist. I’m very sad for you and your family. I have so many fond memories of Bob. He was a kind, trustworthy, considerate and conscientious guy. We did quite a few dives together in the 1990’s, he drove for me and did my bookkeeping when I operated the West Coast Trail Express Bus, and we raced against each other a few times when he joined the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club.
I’m very sorry for your loss and I send my condolences to you, Jeff, Kirk, and family.

Dear Nora, I am so sorry to hear about your Bob’s passing. I am sure it has been a tough time for you and all your family. Looks like he was a sailor and obviously must have loved the sea. It is a wonderful picture. You live in a place he surely could enjoy that. This stage of our lives can be challenging but I’m sure your kids will be making sure you are behaving and doing ok. My condolences to you and your boys and families. Take care and I’m sure thinking of you. Love, Marg.

Dear Nora:
We are so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing and that he suffered through cancer and are sad for you. Our memory of Bob is brewing up the mulled wine for our wonderful Linden Singers’ Carol and Wassail evenings.
That is a great photo of Bob; he looks really happy.
Fondly, Grant and Bev

Sincere Condolences Nora: This is from Doug MacLean) and this read may be a lengthy reflection to celebrate a few special moments from Bob’s amazing life. As you may remember, Bob & I spent many years together when we were involved in the Canadian Forces Military Bands. While we were in the RCN Cornwallis Band, we did pretty much everything together. Bob was also a member of my small dance band, “The Imperials”. He played the Tenor Saxophone. It was at that time that he purchased his infamous brand new Selmer Saxophone which flew off the roof rack on my Volkswagen Beetle at highway speed while we were on our way to perform at a High School Graduation at Shelburne, NS. When I stopped the car, Bob immediately ran to his saxophone, pulled it out of the case and played it immediately on the open highway. No doubt, it was his prize possession at that time. He was very pleased that there was no damage to the instrument and that the case had done its job to protect it. Well, soon we were posted to CFB London to become members of the RCR Band. Upon arrival there, Bob & I rented a house for $75.00 per month in 1968. During our time there he bought a brand new Triumph Spitfire Sports Car which he loaned to me for my first date with my future wife, Lois. Bob made a trip to Victoria and soon decided to marry you. In London, Bob, Norm, Lois & I performed for many dances there. Well, the next time Bob & I would find ourselves together was in the Canadian Forces Naden Band. Many years have passed since then but yesterday I called my ex-wife, Lois to inform her of the sad news today. She immediately remembered Bob. And we agreed that Bob was a gift to all our lives and that in his legacy we can certainly say: Bob had a fine and gentle soul with which he brought Kindness, Peace and Joy to everyone. Bob knew how to uplift lives and he will be dearly missed by us all. There has been no other friend as special and appreciated as Bob.

Dear Nora and boys, My heart hurts with the sad news of Bob’s passing. A kind, gentle, and fun guy, Bob contributed in so many ways with his musical talent during our time in the bands together. I still remember your kindness in the times we had; great fun cutting and gathering our Christmas trees together, so many years ago in Oromocto. Bob was always one of the good guys’. My deepest condolences on your loss.
