Obituary of Richard Charles Langlois
Richard Charles Langlois
Richard (Ric) Charles Langlois passed away in his 78th year. Beloved husband for over 59 wonderful years to Diane (nee Kelly). Loving father of sons, Shane and Kelly and their partners Jo Kelly and Lori Langlois. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Noella Langlois.
Ric was born in Redbridge Ontario where he met and married the love of his life, Diane. It is here with Diane at his side, where he built and renovated several homes and raised his two amazing sons, Shane and Kelly. Ric was a kind and generous person, who was always willing to help anyone who needed him. Whether it was with his electrical expertise or one of his many other “multi-skilled” talents, Ric was quick to help family, friends and neighbours whenever he could. He was devoted to helping both Shane and Kelly as well as their partners and often offered a helping hand. Whether it was with home renovations or a simple question about four-wheeling or fishing, no matter what, he was always there when they needed him. Over the years, he was a great source of expertise and advice for his two boys and extended family.
Throughout his professional working life, he held many positions, beginning his first job working for Canada Veneers at Odenback in Algonquin Provincial Park at the age of 15. In the late 60’s, he moved on to a position with Canadian International Paper (CIP) in Temiscaming Quebec. He later worked at Tembec Forest Products as a Journeyman Electrician and completed the Electrical Program at George Brown College in Toronto. He also worked for himself as a General Contractor. He worked briefly at the start up of Harrison Mines in Renabie Ontario. He finished his career working for the Ministry of Transportation at Patrol 7 in Feronia Ontario. In Semi-Retirement Rick spent time volunteering at the Redbridge Landfill and drove school bus for the local elementary kids who often referred to him as “their favourite bus driver.”
Ric’s family and friends will fondly remember many hours together over great food and drinks along with stories shared, of a long and well-lived life. He had a deep love for his family and often referred to Diane as “his girl” and often said how proud he was of “his boys” Shane and Kelly. He was also very close with his siblings Mike, Nancy and Tim. Ric loved spending time outdoors working and playing. He especially liked exploring the trails and lakes in and around Redbridge with friends and family. He and Diane spent much time on Lake Talon to be near family in retirement; tinkering, fishing and riding the roads and trails whenever he could.
Ric and Diane chose to live their lives in Redbridge until 2018 when they made the move to their condo in North Bay. Ric is survived by his wife Diane, his three siblings Mike (Cathy) Langlois, Nancy (Butch) Cunningham, and Tim (Gina) Langlois and his two sons. Many thanks for all who reached out to Ric, and visited him when he was sick and hospitalized. We will remember Ric as soft spoken, generous to a fault with his time and talents, especially to his sons and their partners. According to Ric’s wishes he will be cremated without a service.
