Richard’s Obituary
DOUCETTE, Richard Joseph – age 86, on February 25, 2025 they pronounced you gone from our world but not from our hearts. The good lord took our husband and father two days before we could celebrate your birthday one more time. Dad was the strongest willed man we’ve ever known. Born and raised in Quinan, he left home at the very young age of 14. To help support his family, he worked at the Digby Pines Hotel where he later met and married our mother. Dad is mostly known for his work as a chef at the Red Knight/Prince Arthur for over 30 years. Dad loved to fish, hunt, chop wood, and tinker around the barn either fixing something or making something, as he was a jack of all trades. If something needed to be done, he did it. He had a strong work ethic, which he instilled in all of us. He taught us to work for what we needed and to stick together as a family to depend on ourselves and each other. We all have fond memories of him. We will all miss the man you were, the strongest most loving husband and father any family would be proud to call their own. Dad, our hero, until we meet again.
Left behind to remember him, his loving wife of 66 years, Anna; his children, Annette (Paul Hubbard); Arlene (Paul MacDonald); Anna Marie (Tony Comeau); Karen (Neil Doucette); Richard Jr. and Allan; sister, Marge Savory; brother, Roy Doucette; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Adele (Muise) and Jean Alfred Doucette, AKA Freddie Brush; sister, Phyllis Doucette; son, Bruce J. Doucette.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. As per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
