It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Réjeanne, on December 24, 2024.
Réjeanne was a devoted wife, caring mother, sister, aunt, grand-mother, and great-grandmother, as well as a loyal friend. Her thoughtful, patient, wise, caring, gentle soul was an immense gift to us all. Her love was the greatest blessing bestowed on us. She will be missed beyond measure.
She will also be lovingly remembered by many others including her former colleagues, friends, and neighbours she had nurtured relationships with over the years.
She put her heart and soul into every endeavor and person in need. She was a devout parishioner in the Catholic church, also engaging in Bible Study programs, in which she found comfort and inspiration to carry on during difficult times. She lived her faith fully, with kindness and quiet resilience, always forgiving, and always serving others. Réjeanne volunteered for many years at the Allen Grey Continuing Care Centre helping those in need. Her unconditional love and selflessness are a common thread across all those who were blessed to have known her.
Réjeanne’s passion was working with children, often with special needs, in elementary schools during her almost 30-year career as a teacher’s assistant, predominantly in the French immersion program for the Edmonton Public School Board. She developed many longstanding friendships over the years and was well known for her nurturing and dedication to her students, and continual support of her colleagues.
Réjeanne loved to laugh and make fun. She also loved music and loved to dance. She had a natural ear for music and was able to teach herself to play the accordion. Oil painting, family golf outings, and card nights were all activities she enjoyed and excelled at. In recent years, her favorite pastime was tending to her flower garden and her delicate and aromatic roses which she often shared with others. With the company of Hubert, she loved watching the array of small birds that she went to great lengths to feed and care for, spending numerous hours maintaining bird houses and feeders around her beautiful yard, enjoying every minute.
Réjeanne also loved to travel and had an interest and curiosity in learning and experiencing what she could when she could separate herself from the day-to-day duties that she was so committed to. Réjeanne was known for preparing elaborate family meals, taking great pleasure in selecting menus that we all enjoyed. She lovingly put countless hours into cooking and baking for her family. She was always interested in hearing about our lives and always providing a patient, loving ear, and providing wise
advice and guidance. Her love and spirituality were the stability of our entire family. She will be missed more than words can ever express.
Réjeanne is survived by her husband Hubert, her son Brian, her daughter Michele, her cherished grandchildren: Mitchel, Tyler (Kara) and Ryan (Jasmine), as well as her great-grandchildren Charlotte and Benjamin, who had quickly become the new loves of her life.
She is also survived by her sisters Nicole Sanscartier, Angèle Dupras, Nancy Schuler, Sylviane Shamboek, many nieces and nephews including her godsons Daniel Schuler and Glen Dupras.
She is predeceased by her parents Lionel and Lucienne, as well as siblings: Solange, Réjean, Pierre-Paul, Lucette, André, Céline, Paul, Gérald, Lucette, nieces Chantal Schuler, Danette Dupras, Sandra Charlebois, and nephew Michel Leonard.
A Prayer service will be held at 3pm, Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at St. Theresa Parish, 7508-29 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
Interment will take place at a later date at Our Lady Peace Cemetery with family present.
Memorials and donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
