Obituary of Paul Joseph Morrison
It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Joseph Morrison announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his adoring family. Born in Saint John, NB, on February 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Harold and Mary (Comeau) Morrison and husband of Suzanne (Allaby) Morrison.
Paul worked at Irving Pulp and Paper Limited for 20 some years before going on sick leave with Rheumatoid Arthritis. He was a heavy equipment operator. Prior to working at the mill, Paul managed Kentucky Fried Chicken and deluxe French Fries.
After retirement, Paul took up woodworking, making many items for others to enjoy. Then he took an interest in Antique cars, buying and remodeling a 1966 Ford Falcon that needed a lot of repairs to make it road-worthy. In the mean time, Paul bought a 74 Ford Comet so he could start enjoying the car clubs.
Paul was a member of Valley Cruisers Car Club and the New Brunswick Antique Auto Club Inc., which has seven regions all over New Brunswick. Throughout his time with NBAAC he took on the role of the president, which he served for nearly nine years, until sickness took that enjoyment away from him.
Paul has been a member of the Legion for several years, serving as President of the Royal Canadian Legion Hampton Br#28 in 2010. In the past he served many positions at the Royal Canadian Legion #69, where he also played team darts.
In 1996 Paul married a country girl, Suzanne (Allaby) (Mercer) who was a widow, with two adult children then we added three more of Paul’s children. Wasn’t long before Paul found country living pretty good. Sue and Paul enjoyed going to dances and practicing the Jive. And we really loved the NBAAC Jamborees being held all over the province once a year.
Paul is survived by his wife Suzanne; step-children: Rob (Tracy) Mercer of Erb’s Cove, NB, Beth (David) Morrison of Sus, NB; children: Paul Jr. (Michelle) Morrison of Saint John, NB, Troy (Kelly) Morrison of Belleisle Creek, NB, Lisa (James) Morrison of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Austin, Kelsey, Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Cayden, Michelle, Miranda, Mark; several great-grandchildren; brothers: David Morrison and Gary (Tammy) Morrison; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was also predeceased by his infant son Joseph Paul Morrison and his first wife Brenda (Knox) Morrison.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where the visitation will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from noon to 2:00pm. Legion branch #28 of Hampton will hold a tribute at noon and the Funeral Service, will start at 2:00. Interment will take place at Lower Norton Baptist Cemetery in the Spring.
Donations in memory of Paul may be made to Bloomfield Baptist Church, Canadian Cancer Society, NB Antique Auto Club or to the memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
