Obituary of Patricia Boddy
Passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2025 at The Hospice of Windsor and Es County in her 100th year following a brief illness. Born in Toronto to Maurice V. and Margaret (Rushman) Pougnet on January 28, 1926. Spouse of the late R. Leigh Boddy (1986). Between Toronto, Montreal, and her hometown of Windsor, Pat raised six children: Janice Boddy; Carol Eldred (William, 2022), Maureen Larabee (Stan), Michael (Helen), Mark, and David (Sharon). Pat was the loving Grandma of Matthew (Sarah), Jordan (David), Jamie (Leath), Ryan (Brianne), Aaron, Colin, Christopher, Mitchell, and Lauren. Proud “Grandma One” of Harper, Austin, Quinn, Georgia, Scarlett, Delaney, Oakley, Ethan, Lucy, Owen, Bentley, Jack, Harley, and James.
Pat was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth (Bette) Sauve of Belle River (2021), and Marie Wilson of Windsor (2023) – her best friend and long-time tennis and travel partner. She is survived by her brother, Maurice J. (Maurie) Pougnet of Windsor, and by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Pat was an avid sports fan and a champion tennis player in her youth. After graduating from Walkerville Collegiate she attended the University of Toronto where she specialized in physical education. Following university, she taught high school in Orillia and Loretto Abbey in Toronto.
Pat enjoyed many years of international travel with her sisters and friends and in later years became a snowbird, wintering in Florida and Southern California. She spent her retirement in Belle River on Lake Saint Clair before moving into Chartwell Saint Clair Beach Retirement Residence where she continued to enjoy her lovely lakeside sunsets. At Chartwell she was an inspiration to fellow residents and staff as, well into her 90s, she made a daily trek to the gym to work out on the exercise machines. Her passion for golf and baseball (especially her beloved Blue Jays) was legendary. Her thoughtfulness and memory of residents’ names and circumstances delighted those who met her. She was beloved by staff and residents alike. Although she lived a long life, she was taken from us too soon.
Pat’s family greatly appreciate the care and many kindnesses shown by the doctors and nurses on 4W Windsor Metropolitan Regional Hospital. We are also extremely grateful to the doctors, nurses, PSWs, volunteers, and staff of Windsor Hospice where she spent her final month – our sincere thanks to you all, not only for your care of Mom but for also for your concern and compassion for our family. Your support on our difficult journey was amazing.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Monday, March 17 at 10:30 am until time of service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As a tribute to Pat, if you so desire, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Windsor Es County (6038 Empress Street, Windsor, Ontario).
