Patricia (Pat) was born March 5th,1925 at home on the. J. Proctor family farm west of Mervin, Saskatchewan, the third of 6 children.
She loved all games but softball was her passion playing shortstop for the Mervin Sharpshooters.
At the age of 17 she attended Normal School in Saskatoon to train as a teacher. Because of a severe shortage of teachers at the time, she was deployed before completing her training to a school in the Cut Knife area. It was there that she met her handsome redhead Bill Bingham (he drove a sports car!) and they were married in 1947. She quit teaching at this time and after some travel they took over the family farm west of Cut Knife. While becoming a busy farm wife and mother, raising 3 children, Beryl, Gordon and Lloyd, she also became an active member of the Wardenville Community club. Here she formed lifelong friendships with neighbouring
family and friends. Music was always a big part of her life but it was here that she learned and enjoyed her second passion in life-bridge.
They retired to White Rock in 1973. Pat loved to socialize, to entertain and to laugh and it didn’t take long for her to become an active member of her new community. She volunteered with the Hospital Superfluity charity, the White Cane Club and enjoyed the camaraderie of 2 bridge clubs.
In 2009 they moved back to Mervin where Pat made close friends, was part of the Seniors Club, volunteered at “the Home” and played bridge with a local group.
In 2018 she moved into assisted living at Caleb Village in North Battleford and was there for 7 months until she required long term care provided for her at the Turtleford Nursing Home. She reconnected with family and friends here and enjoyed participating in most of the games and activities. She enjoyed the staff, loved the music and celebrations and coffee parties with friends and family. Amazingly she began playing the piano again last summer (at age 99) and would sing along which she really enjoyed. This continued until 3 days before her passing on December 28th.
Pat lived a full life, was loved and enjoyed by many and especially her family. She was an inspiration through the years and we will miss her loving and welcoming presence, her sense of humour and her “joie de vivre”. We rejoice that she is living her reward in her eternal home.
