Obituary of Patricia Anne Dankowsky
Patricia Dankowsky (née Weiler) passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, at Sunnyside Home, surrounded by the love of her family. In her later years, she demonstrated profound strength, resilience, courage, and grace as she endured numerous health struggles. No longer restrained by her failing body, Pat now dances freely and joyfully with the angels.
Beloved wife of Al for more than 58 years. Cherished mother of Pam Dankowsky-Kinney and Rob Dankowsky. Loving Oma of Liam, Noah, and Danika. She will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Rozie Zuk (the late John) and Mary Mcfarlane (Bob), as well as her many close friends, nieces, and nephews.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Helen Weiler (nee Duffy), Simon Weiler, and her brother, Tom Weiler (Nancy), stepmother, Ruth Hoefler, and stepbrothers, Peter and Gary Hoefler (Shirley).
Pat’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and close friends. Her grandchildren hold many beautiful memories of time spent with their Oma, from the hours spent rocking on her lap, to baking, building forts, snuggling under blankets, dancing to Abba, playing Uno, and gardening, to name (more than) a few. She also loved being surrounded by plants and tending to her garden. She was a woman of deep faith who found comfort and wisdom through prayer and spiritual meditation.
Holidays and celebrations were a special time for Mom. She loved to gather with family and there was always a lot of food to enjoy!
During her earlier years, Pat was a member of many organizations, including the St. Michael’s CWL. She began her career as a hairstylist, took several years off to raise her family, and then eventually became a PSW, taking care of clients, with whom she developed close bonds, in their homes.
Pat loved unconditionally. During her years, she touched many lives with her generous, nurturing spirit, listening ear, and kind heart. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones, but we take comfort in the thought of her, wrapped in God’s loving embrace, finally reuniting with her mom, dad, and brother.
Despite Pat’s daily challenges, the incredible, compassionate team of caregivers at Sunnyside enabled her to live out her last years with dignity, love, and always a sense of humor. We are forever grateful to them. Life is indeed better at the lodge!
A special thank you to close friends, Dianne McGuire and Rosemarie Mask, who along with the family, ensured that in the days prior to Mom’s passing, she was never alone.
Your life has been a gift to us, Mom. You taught us all so much and we are forever grateful. We are inspired to live our lives with the same gentle love and compassion you always demonstrated.
