It is with deep love and sorrow that we say goodbye to Patricia Yvonne Olynik of Moose Jaw, SK, on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Pat will be greatly missed by her only child, Tracy, married to Peter Jensen, and her grandchildren, Jager and Trinity. She was a woman of incredible strength inside and out, beauty and pride — a force of nature who lived life on her own terms. She passed with a very full heart after spending Christmas with her family in Calgary, AB. The week was filled with everything most important to her. First and foremost, her grandchildren. “Nana”, as she was fondly called, saw her grandson complete his undergraduate degree and celebrate his success and happiness. “Nana” also spent quality time with her granddaughter, who truly was her kindred spirit. She was not just a grandmother to Trinity but also a best friend, a guide, and a constant source of comfort.
“Auntie Pat” was another role she embraced wholeheartedly. During the holidays, she was able to spend time with her niece, Shelly and her husband Kelly and their family; great-nephew, Cody, his wife Ellen and their children Rayner and Sable, who she ensured were gifted with their princess dresses, which brought her incredible pride and joy; great-nephews, Brady, and Tyler, his wife Jackie and their son Bo; nephew, Todd, his wife Monique, their son Hugh and great-niece Alysia all surrounded her with the warmth of the holidays. Pat is survived by her younger sister, Liz Craigen, whom she was so grateful to spend time with.
Patricia passed away in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in her new home at the Mulberry Estates. She was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, to Alfred and Florence McLelland, and she was one of 7 children. Her family farm, where she spent her early years, was near Margo, Saskatchewan.
When Pat moved to Moose Jaw, she came into her own. She married Johnny Olynik in 1957 and built a home and family with him. They had their only daughter 11 years later.
Pat was an incredible housekeeper who welcomed many into her home. She could often be found in her yard, ensuring everything was maintained meticulously. Family pets were a big part of her life, and unconditional love for each of them was unmistakable. Family holidays in the trailer were some of the best times together. She made sure trips were planned perfectly and memories that will never be forgotten were made.
Pat started her career journey working at Sasktel where her memory for numbers became evident and continued throughout her life. She then became a full-time homemaker and mother who took enormous pride in everything she did. Her determination and drive to succeed were the foundation of everything she did. Provincial politics became her calling and she sat on many Boards. At the end of her career journey, she became the owner of a Sask Lottery kiosk.
Pat curled for many years with friends and later enjoyed watching both curling and her Saskatchewan Roughriders. Although, it was watching her daughter dance that brought her the most joy. She stayed involved with the dance community for many years in Moose Jaw. She was also a fantastic baker and enjoyed cooking large holiday dinners for family. She loved to
shop and never missed an opportunity to add to her shoe collection. She took pride in her appearance and was never seen looking anything less than her best.
Pat was a natural caregiver who was able to care for her mother and her husband in their later years. She was also blessed with many special friends who helped make Moose Jaw home.
In keeping with Pat’s wishes, no Funeral Service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
