Patricia Jane Jardine (nee) Duffy
Patricia passed peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on March 11th, 2025, at the age of 103. Predeceased by her husband, Randolph (Ran) in 1979; her parents, Simon and Margaret (Washington) Duffy; her siblings Barry, Donald, Patrick, Emmett, Vincent, Robert, Martin, Una, Mary, Josephine, Ethyl, Rose and Elvira. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Patricia grew up on the family homestead in Renous, New Brunswick. She graduated from the provincial normal school and began her teaching career in the late 1930’s in a one room schoolhouse. Patricia had a busy teaching career at several Moncton area schools and was head of the library sciences department at the Moncton Campus of the N.B. Community College for 21 years. Always a lifelong learner, she completed her B.A. and B.Ed. from U.N.B.; she earned a Masters of Sciences degree focused on library sciences from Simmons College for women in Boston and a M.E.d. in school administration from University of Moncton. Patricia was an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the University Women’s Club and the CWL.
She is survived by her children; Donna (Earl) Powers, David, Kathryn (Alex) Golob and Carol (Stuart) Leach; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church (340 Dominion St) at 10:00 am. Burial in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
