OLIVE KRANTZ
August 21, 1936 – December 31, 2024
On December 31st, 2024, the Krantz family lost their matriarch, Olive Krantz. She passed peacefully at Creekway Village in Burlington, at the age of 88 with family by her side. Beloved wife, affectionately known as « the Boss », of Mayor Gordon Krantz, loving mother of David (Geri) Krantz and preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Krantz (Churchill). Olive will be missed by her 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Affectionately known as Grammie; she was always the constant person that everyone went to for her wisdom and unfiltered advice.
Olive and Gord met as teenagers and after dating for three years married in 1958. Olive had many successes, which included and not limited to owning and operating a Fuel company with Gord, operating and managing an apartment building and the right hand Mayoress since 1980. However, she would consider her greatest accomplishment, her family. For years Olive was the one that always gathered the Krantz family together under one roof, the biggest celebration being Christmas with upwards of 60 people. One of the families fondest memories and longest running joke around the holiday season was Olive’s love for scotch tape. Family always knew what gifts were from her as they were almost inaccessible due to the sheer volume of tape.
Although Olive preferred to stay behind the scenes and out of the spotlight her deep-rooted commitment to the community was unwavering. Olive has seen the Town of Milton grow from approximately 25000 when Gord was first elected as Mayor to 158000 currently. During this time their door was always open, and she was the first point of contact for many people wanting to reach the Mayor. Whether you were a politician or a citizen with concerns, Olive treated everyone with the same level of respect. People often enjoyed the opportunity to hear her wealth of knowledge about the town’s history with some humorous anecdotes added in.
Olive touched the lives of many and if you were one of the lucky to become her friend your life would be forever enriched by her fierce and spicy personality. Her loss will be felt far and wide.
Olive will be sorely missed by her husband Gord, her family and all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the lessons she taught, the lives she touched and those she left behind.
A special thank you to those that cared for Olive at the Milton District Hospital, the Sunrise Retirement Home in Oakville and at Creekway Village in Burlington.

A Celebration of Life is expected to be held for Olive in early spring, details to follow.
