Obituary of Nancy F. Keay
Keay, Nancy F.
With broken hearts, we announce the death of our mother, Nancy F. Keay, on April 1, 2025 at the age of 90. Born June 18, 1934, Mum was the only child of the late R. Fraser and Edythe M. (Mitchell) Keay.
Mum was predeceased by her ex-husband E. John (Jack) Boone and her partner, S. Barry Gotell.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jim) Simms and her son, Brian Boone. Her son, John (Sherry) Boone, has been missing since 1998. She is also survived by grandchildren Scott (Wanda) Simms of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Stephanie (Kody) Simms of High Prairie, AB, Justin (Cheyenne) Simms of High Prairie, AB, and Samantha Simms of St. Andrews as well as great grandchildren Maddison Simms, Xavier DeMerchant, Charlotte Simms, and Pyper-Lee Simms.
Mum greatly loved and treasured her circle of friends, customers, and extended family from near and far, and there were many.
Nancy had a great love of travel and visited Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Florida, Bahamas, Jamaica, Scotland, England, Wales, and Holland, and even rode a camel in Tunisia. The car never sat idle for long. Mum was very intelligent and talented- a good cook, housekeeper, and crafter. Her jewellery Christmas trees were phenomenal. Mum was an avid reader and loved documentaries. She had a great sense of humour. Nancy was very active in the community, delivering Meals on Wheels, participating in Spindrifters, and attending her much beloved Greenoch Presbyterian church.
Mum attended Mount Allison University and worked for the Red Cross. From 1970 to 2023, she owned and operated the very popular family business, The China Chest Limited.
