It is with broken hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Kivell, who left us after a short battle with cancer. Nancy passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston on January 8th, just days before celebrating her 74th birthday on January 24th, 2025. She had been looking forward to the next chapter of her life, but her journey was tragically cut short.
Nancy was a loving sister, aunt, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved sister and best friend Jean and brother in-law Larry and her brothers Barry (Cheryl) and Brad (Bonnie). She was predeceased by her loving parents. Nancy’s family also includes many nieces & nephews. Her cherished nieces Dana and Shan (Matt), were a constant presence in her life, bringing her immense joy and pride. She was blessed with great-nephews and great-nieces. Jack and Ava held a special place in her heart.
Nancy came from a large, close-knit family of cousins in Windsor and around southern Ontario, and she will be remembered fondly by all of them. She also leaves behind a circle of dear friends in the Collingwood and surrounding area who provided invaluable support and assistance during her recent medical journey and in the months leading up to her passing.
A woman of exceptional kindness, generosity, and patience, Nancy was always ready to lend a hand or offer a comforting word. She had a keen love for animals, especially her feline companions, Tinker Bell and Doogie, who were a source of comfort and joy throughout her life.
Nancy will be remembered for her unwavering smile, her butter tarts, her selflessness, and her ability to put others’ needs before her own. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth and compassion.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Drury Funeral Centre in Alliston on May 3, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgian Triangle SPCA in Collingwood or Matthews House Hospice in Alliston.
Rest in peace, dear Nancy. You will forever remain in our hearts.
