Muriel « Mert » Kilcollins (née Everett) passed away with family by her side on February 6th, 2025. She was a valiant fighter her whole life, and now is at rest.
She will be remembered, missed, and cherished by her children, Sherry (Raymond) and Patti (Nikki); her grandchildren, RJ (Samantha), Sydne (Matt), Rachel (Matthew), Yazmin (Jeremy), Sian, and Dorian; her eight (and counting) great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; her beloved Coco; and numerous other family and friends. Mert was predeceased by her husband, Clint; her parents, Samuel and Laversa; and her siblings, Floyd, Wilma, Fred, Juanita, and Betty.
Mert was born in Aroostook Junction, NB in 1937. She met and married Clint Kilcollins and moved to Brantford, Ontario where she spent most of her life. Mert was known to be deeply fond of a rich dessert and a strong drink. She imparted many lessons to her family, most notably the joy of berry picking. Mert and Clint embarked upon many trips and journeys, often camping and daring multi-day road trips to visit friends and family. She was always ready and willing to play tabletop games or pat-a-cake with the kids. Her quirky humour remains a dear memory and stayed with her until her final days.
Mert will be honored quietly by her immediate family today with a future Celebration of Life to be held June 21st.
Memorial donations may be made to benefit the residents of Victoria Manor. Cheques can be made payable to the ‘Victoria Manor Residents’ Council’ so as to best remember the touching and heartfelt care she received.
