Mildred McMillan
With heavy hearts, the family of Mildred McMillan announces her peaceful passing at the age of
84 on April 2nd, 2025, at Roseview Manor with her family by her side.
Millie was born in Hearst, ON to her predeceased parents Josephine and Kalmon Jarabak. She
spent most of her life in Thunder Bay and was married to Arthur McMillan for 53 years until his
passing in 2014. Millie dedicated 27 years of her life to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, a
role she loved, but her greatest joy came from her family, particularly her four beloved
grandchildren.
Nothing made Millie happier than spending time with her grandchildren. Whether she was
cheering on Jordan at his hockey games, or spending countless weekends watching Alyssa,
Rachel, and Lauren compete at their dance competitions, Millie’s heart was always full of love
and pride for them. Each milestone they reached, each performance, each game, was a source of
immense joy for Millie.
Outside of work, Millie had a true love for the outdoors. Her cherished camp at Northern Light
Lake was her sanctuary, a place where countless weekends and holidays were spent fishing,
walking with friends, reading and welcoming loved ones. For over 40 years, the camp was a
gathering place for family and friends, and her grandchildren eagerly anticipated spending time
with their “Nana” there. Millie’s simple joy came from being with her family and creating lasting
memories.
Millie is survived by her daughters, Andrea (Steve) Spavor and Lisa (Dave) Fedoruk; her
grandchildren, Jordan, Alyssa, Rachel, and Lauren; her sister Aileen; and her brothers David and
Ricky; predeceased by her brothers Steve and Laddy. She is also survived by many in-laws,
cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends who will remember her with love.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Roseview Manor for the
unwavering care, kindness and compassion they showed Millie over the years and in her final
days. The love and dignity with which they cared for her were deeply appreciated and the family
will forever be grateful.
Although Millie’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who loved her, her
spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her memory will live on in the stories we share and
in the hearts of her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service will be held at a future date. A
celebration of life will be held this summer, where all who knew and loved Millie can gather to
honour her life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
