Michael passed away at Leamington Hospital with dear friends and family surrounding him. He was born in Cambridge U.K., to parents Alice and Dr.Stanley Dagley. He was the dearly beloved husband of wife Dorothy (Dot) Dagley, and father to cherished children Amanda Knapp (Sam), David Dagley (Becky), and Andrew Dagley (Jodi). Adored grandpa to Curtis Chauvin (Andrea) of California, Miranda Chauvin of Vancouver, Haley, Chantelle (Doug), Duncan, Melanie Dube of Vermont, and Rachelle Bodi (Darren). He was doting step grandpa to Judith Partridge, Tyler, Brittany, and Gracie Webster, and will be missed by many great grandchildren, and his sisters, PauIine Cooper of the U.K., the late Jane Crowder of Florida, and Helen Dagley of Des Moines.
Mike started his career as a police officer in the Lancashire Constabulary U.K. In 1967 he emigrated to Canada with his wife, three children under 5 — and a cat! After a brief stint on the Toronto Police department, he came to Windsor and never looked back. Starting out as a constable in June of 1967, he rose through the ranks to retire in 1999 as Deputy Chief Constable.
His life was well lived. He had a career he loved. He was a lifelong practicing Christian, loved his churches, both here and in Florida, where he spent his winters. His love and devotion to his wife, family and friends, especially Tom and Ivy Nobley, fellow ex pats, was unwavering. He was an animal lover, especially the dogs, and many cats that he shared his life with.
He was an active man, passionate about his sports. He was one of the first to run the Detroit/Windsor marathon — twice! He jogged with his dogs and later walked with them. He played five aside soccer and coached his boys’ soccer team, and in his later years loved golf and gardening.
After soccer, he was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, the Pistons and later the Raptors. By no means least, the Windsor Spitfires and a season ticket holder for the Detroit Red Wings.
Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home. As per Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A service will be held in celebration of Mike’s life at the Church of the Epiphany (96 Main Street W. Kingsville), on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. followed by interment in the Church of the Epiphany Cemetery. Following interment, a reception in the church hall will be held, where all are welcome. If desired, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to World Vision Canada (1 World Dr, Mississauga ON, L5T 2Y4).
If you come, make sure you bring lots of stories and much laughter to celebrate a beloved man.
