In Loving Memory of Matthew Sean Kirkwood McKeag “Kegger”
1983 – 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Matthew Sean Kirkwood McKeag, on September 20th, 2025, at the age of 42. A beloved figure in the local heavy metal music scene where he found his passion for singing at a young age. He was known for his deep connections with friends and family, and for the meaningful impact he made on everyone he met.
Halloween held a special place in Matt’s heart. Each year, he created a new costume alongside his daughter. He was a regular at horror conventions, always supporting creative friends.
Nothing brought Matt more pride and joy than being a father. His daughter, Grace, was his “Soulshine,” and the bond they shared was truly special. Together, they created lasting memories on their infamous McKeag Mystery Tours, where the destination was unknown, but the journey was everything.
Matt is lovingly remembered by his daughter Grace, and her mother Sarah. He is deeply missed by his devoted parents, Bob and Valli, his siblings Rob (Jovita), and Ellen Packham (Ken). Proud Uncle Matt to Maya (Brayden), Taylor, and Bailey (Ryder) whom he loved and cherished. Matt also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins across Canada, the United States, and Ireland.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Dunnville Community Lifespan Centre, 275 Ramsey Drive, Dunnville, ON. In honour of Matt’s love for Halloween, guests are encouraged to come in costume.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Matt’s wishes, donations may be made in kind to a trust fund established for his daughter Grace.
