MaryAnn was born in Borden SK and grew up on the farm near Blaine Lake, where her parents, as newcomers from Ukraine, had homesteaded. She attended school in Orolow and Blaine Lake, and married Wayne in 1971, moving first to Saskatoon and then to Regina which they made into their long-term home.
MaryAnn enjoyed many wonderful friendships, collecting antiques and memorabilia from her prairie and maritime homes, and celebrating special occasions with family. She was a wonderful cook and her perogies and cabbage rolls were outstanding – you could never visit their home without enjoying something delicious to eat and often scuffles to take home. Cross-country trips to Cape Breton were a highlight for both Wayne and MaryAnn, and Wayne’s Nova Scotian family members held a special place in their hearts. They loved spending summer weekends at the cabin in Round Lake playing cards, and spending time with friends and family in Blaine lake.
MaryAnn is survived by her sons Richard (Meredith) and Greg (Nancy) Anderson; grandchildren Ava, Jake and Max sister Rose Parchoma; nieces Rene (Terry) Keller and Rhonda (Steve) Ganes; and great-niece Lola Ganes; as well as brother-in-law Ron (Heather) Leblanc; sister-in-law Shirley (Rick) King; and extended family. MaryAnn was predeceased by her much-loved husband, Wayne; parents Paul and Rose Zerebeski; brother-in-law Ron Parchoma; and sister-in-law Betty Wheaton.
MaryAnn’s grandchildren were a source of great joy and she was always so very proud of each of them and made sure their school photos took pride of place.
A special thanks to family and friends who supported MaryAnn, including late friend Sandra Short, and long-term friends Debbie and Brian Rollman; Donna Parchoma, Shirley Nauss and newer friends Robyn Dansereau and Marcia Appleyard. We are very grateful to the staff at Parkside Extendicare and Dr. Lok who provided her with kind and compassionate care.
