It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Marilyn Walton, age 86, of
Murray Corner. After a brief illness, Marilyn passed away
surrounded by her family at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, January
7, 2025.
Born in Bayfield, NB, she was a daughter
of the late Dana and Dora (Leeworthy) Spence; step father the late
John « Jack » Sprague; later adopted by the late Foster and
Victora (Rayworth) Allen.
Marilyn started as secretary for the
Eaton Company, later teaching at the Port Elgin School.
After a few years, she started her family, and stayed home to raise
her kids and look after her family. She enjoyed working the
Gift Shop at the Ferry Terminal during the summers. She
loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She adored watching sports, and was often
seen watching curling, basketball, hockey and more, either through her
kids teams, grandkids teams, or on television.
She will be dearly missed by her husband
Rodney, Murray Corner; children Barry (Joanne), Moncton, Joanne Waite,
Shediac, Jeffrey (Diane), Sackville, and Peter (Paula), Kentville;
grandchildren Graham, Josh, Jordan, Connor, Lucas, Hannah, Nathan and
Grace; great grandchildren Connor, Sarah, Lochlan, Aubrey, Emme
Marilyn, Warren, and Eli; brothers Harold (Charlotte) Spence,
Saskatoon, SK and John (Audrey) Sprague, Es, ON.
She was predeceased by siblings
Catherine Fearon, Nancy Clinansmith, and Diane McCann as well as son
in law Ron Waite.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Homes, Sackville and Port
Elgin. An Afternoon of Remembrance will take
place from their Port Elgin location, 3 West Main Street, on Sunday,
January 12, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm, reception provided.
Donations in memory of Marilyn may be
made to the IWK, or a charity of one’s choice.
