Marilyn Wallace, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025, at The Grove Home in Arnprior, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 87 years old. Marilyn spent her life giving kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Marilyn was the cherished wife of the late Robert (Bob) Wallace, with whom she raised a family. She was a devoted and much-loved mother to Peggy Wallace, Allan Wallace (Kelly Harrington), Wendy Ball (Jamie), and Jenny Hulford (Mike). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy —Ben Watson (Emily Palmer), Emma Watson (Callum Gaskin), Connor Ball (Dakota), Emmett Ball, Alex Hulford (Dom Pahulje), and Eric Hulford (Caitlin Seguin) – and they all loved her dearly. Marilyn’s legacy will live on in them, and in her great granddaughters, Aurora and Stella.
She will be deeply missed by her dear friend and companion, Jim Deacon, who brought her comfort and joy in her later years. As the youngest of the McLaren sisters, Marilyn is survived by her sisters Janette Storie and Aldene Gray, along with sisters-in-law Lois Wallace and Bella Bujold (Gerry), and brother-in-law Wes Wallace. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Allan McLaren, her in-laws Mary and Robert Wallace, and several beloved siblings-in-law: Bill Storie, Emmett Gray, Borden Wallace, Mervin and Gail (Wallace) Cole. Marilyn’s extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends will forever hold her memory close.
A faithful member of Trinity St. Andrews United Church, Marilyn found solace and purpose in her church community. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends, sharing her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and love of music and dance. Known for her welcoming nature and sense of fun, Marilyn was a remarkable sister, aunt, coworker, and friend.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers who supported Marilyn throughout her journey: the staff at Quail Creek Retirement Home, Bonnechere Manor, and The Grove. Special thanks to Dr. Becker and the Pine Lane team at The Grove for their exceptional end-of-life care, which brought comfort to both Marilyn and her loved ones.
Visitation will be held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew on Monday March 24, 2025 from 9:30-10:30am followed by the funeral service at Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church, Renfrew at 11am. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Goshen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Marilyn’s memory to The Grove in Arnprior or Bonnechere Manor, reflecting their appreciation for the care she received. Marilyn Wallace’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
