Marilyn Amyotte (nee Mousseau) Obituary
Marilyn Jean Amyotte (nee Mousseau) passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at home in Vinton, Quebec, with her family by her bedside after a courageous battle with cancer.
When she was first diagnosed with a melanoma in the eye, her prayers were answered and she was blessed with the opportunity to try an experimental treatment which she received at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. It gave her 12 more beautiful years with her family for which they will always be grateful.
Marilyn was born April 20, 1941 and raised in Campbell’s Bay, Quebec. Daughter of the late George Mousseau and Annie Turgeon. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Rolland H. Amyotte. He will be reunited with his « Ma mie » at last.
Cherished mom of Joanne (late Terry Hearty), Linda (late Bill Angus), Juliette (Lloyd Lance), the late Patrick (Donna Vinters), Alain (Karen Cummings), Maggie (Ricky Crawford), Cathy (late G.C. Meilleur), Dan (Lynn Dempsey), Melvin (late Debbie Smith) and Junior (Lori Kensley).
Beloved Mémère of Adam, Sarah, Angie, Kelly, Mathieu, Laura, Amanda, Luke, Haily, Scott, Joey, Jenny Lea, Cassandra, Crystal, Danielle, Dalton, Sebastian, Greg, Todd, Shane, and 21 great-grandchildren. She loved and was proud of them all.
She is survived by her brother Elsworth Leo Mousseau and predeceased by sisters Anna Mae, Laurette, Florence, Marcella, Inez, and brothers Simon, Henry and Hilliard. She will be missed by brother-in-law Rhéal, sisters-in-law Laurette, Lisette, Yvette, Lucille, Cécile, Carole, Danielle and many nephews, nieces and dear friends.
Marilyn was an avid cook and baker who loved pouring over new recipes to try, and then share with those she loved. She was well known in the area for her homemade fudge at Halloween. She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter whose beautiful sunflower and poinsettia rugs were true works of art and love. She was passionate about gardening and passed her love of growing flowers and vegetables onto many friends and family. Marilyn was generous with her time, her knowledge and her help, and will be remembered for her deep desire to not be wasteful and finding new homes and purposes for things that would otherwise be discarded.
Marilyn was a devoted member of the choir at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Vinton for more than four decades. She will be dearly missed by her friends at the church. She prayed with love and sincerity for all those she knew so that God may guide them and lend them the support they needed. Now, we pray that God will guide her to her final resting place with those she loved who passed before her.
Funeral Mass and interment to follow in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Bouffe Pontiac and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Eternal rest grant unto them,
O Lord; and let perpetual
light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful
departed, through the mercy
of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
