With deep love and sorrow, we share the passing of Margo Caron (née Danis). She departed this world peacefully on March 17, embraced by the love of her family and friends.
She is survived by her cherished only daughter, Janet Caron-Provost; her greatly adored only granddaughter, Carleen Crocco (Tom); and her greatly anticipated great-grandson, Harvey. Margo also leaves behind her caring and devoted companion, Clifford Caron, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and steadfast lifelong friends.
Margo was predeceased by her parents and seven siblings, including her recently deceased youngest sister, Lucille Belotti, who was both a playful antagonist and one of her dearest friends. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Gabriel Provost, who will surely be awaiting her with a scotch and water in hand. Most of all, Margo is reunited with her beloved husband, Harvey Caron, whose profound love was never lost.
Born and raised in Timmins, Margo was the youngest of eight children and was doted on throughout her life by her older sisters and brother. She was close with many nieces and nephews who were near her in age, most notably Valerie Lever, who remained a devoted friend throughout her life. Margo married the love of her life, Harvey Caron, in 1956. They shared 58 wonderful years together, living in the same home they maintained with great care.
Margo was an incredible mother to her only daughter, Janet—the apple of her eye. Their bond was unbreakable, and Margo’s love for Janet was unwavering. As a grandmother (Mama), Margo’s heart grew even larger, and she adored her only granddaughter, Carleen, with all of her being. The love Margo had for her family knew no bounds, and her deep devotion will forever be cherished by Janet and Carleen.
Margo was a caregiver by vocation, spending much of her professional life working in health care. There’s no doubt that giving care was Margo’s calling. Nothing made her happier than spending time showering love and affection on the people she cherished most. Her warmth will be forever etched in our memories.
Although Mama struggled with dementia in her later years, her eyes would light up whenever she saw her 10-month-old great-grandson, Harvey, for whom she had waited her whole life. She was always fully present in those precious moments with him. His presence brought her tenderness, kindness, and love, which seemed to erase her confusion.
Mama was a social grace, always out and about, chatting with everyone she met. Her warm smile and cheeky wink left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her infectious charm and genuine kindness will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of resilience, humour, and compassion will live on in the many lives she touched.
Margo’s family would like to thank her lifelong best friend Carmen Boulay, and her dear friends Mitch St-Jean, Laura Steep and Lise Lemire for their unwavering friendship and support, as well as her niece Valerie Lever and extended family member Janet Crocco, for their constant care and visits. A special thank you also goes to Clifford, whose love and care for Margo in her final years brought her immense comfort and a kind of love that will never be forgotten.
Margo will be deeply missed, but her warmth and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Thanks to the incredible staff at Lasalle Retirement Residence and Extendicare Timmins, Margo’s final years were filled with joy, dignity, and care. The family would also like to send a sincere thank you to Dr. DiTulio and the staff of the Gillies Lake Department, Extendicare, for the compassionate end-of-life care they provided.
A celebration of Margo’s life will be held on Thursday March 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Lessard Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at the Lessard Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the TIMMINS AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION in her memory.
