It is with a heavy heart that the family of Mackenzie Mae Clearsky (Amundson) announces his passing on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Mackenzie was at rest in his mother’s bed with his guitar when he passed and returned home under peaceful conditions in Regina, Saskatchewan.
We will always remember our cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. He was our light, our guide, and our hope for this world. We will remember his brave, adventurous soul, his charming smile and beautiful charismatic personality as if he was with us here today. We will remember him and the love he shared with this world as he continues to travel and always check in with his loved ones.
Macky was predeceased by his Kokum Linda Gordon; auntie Nen (Lynette) Gordon; friend Eliza; cousin Joshua Lavallee; as well as great grandfather Alphonse Lavallee.
Mack’s memory will be cherished by his siblings Koria Gordon (Darius), Kenneth Gordon, Isabelle Gordon (Terell), Robinson “Finn” Watson, Alexander Watson, Madison Amundson-Bellegarde; parents Jessica Gordon and Corie Amundson; aunties Elmo (Leslie Gordon), Maria Gordon, Judy Wasacase, Cathy Amundson; Moshom Hubert Gordon; grandparents Dean and Joy Amundson; nieces, who were the light of his world, Ophelia Pearl and Ocean Mae; step-parents, who were privileged to help raise him, Marty Watson, Ken Bigsky Sr. and Holly Bellegarde; special friend Livia; along with many previous step siblings, adopted aunties and uncles, cousins and many many special friends.
We would like to send love to the fire keepers who braved the cold and stayed by the fire, the amazing team at YWCA who provided the wood, YWCA Metro Vancouver where he worked during the summer 2025 for the floral arrangements and his adopted Auntie Nina Wilson for saying prayers for his home and family.
After graduating high school in Regina, Mackenzie pursued higher education at Simon Fraser University, where he worked diligently toward earning a business degree. True to his adventurous spirit, he spent a semester in Thailand, immersing himself in the vibrant culture and expanding his worldview. Mackenzie also explored Mexico, bringing his unique blend of humor and charm to every interaction.
Though he often traveled solo, Mackenzie was rarely alone—his warmth and wit attracted friends wherever he went. His most recent journey took him to a meaningful role with Indigenous Relations at Northern Affairs Canada, where he made a lasting impact.
Mackenzie’s life was a testament to courage, curiosity, and a boundless « Wunderlust » for the world. He reminded us to embrace joy over fear, inspiring us to live fully and seek adventure wherever it may be found
