Obituary of Lynn Dobson
It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Lynn Dobson announce her death which occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on July 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Brittain) Leahy.
Lynn was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She could often be seen driving Kadie, Kellen and Kyleigh and was their faithful cheerleader, and an unwavering support system for them. She was known for her famous chocolate chip cookies that often didn’t get time to cool. We will miss her wonderful sense of humour, her kindness, her warmth and her belief that all good things are meant to be shared, especially anything sweet. She took up a big space in many peoples hearts, especially her husband of 49 years. In the words of her late husband: “The radiated warmth of her is encountered by more than one mortal and it has been felt by all that come to know her. She is vulnerable, soft, endearing, brilliant in her own way, naive in others, ever caring, ever loving, a woman of true moral value, a lady in every sense of the word.”
She was an active member of the Hampton United Church (UCW and Board), TOPS, Sorority, Hampton Legion, and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed great friendships with many, especially neighbours Carol & Dan, and Diane & Norm. We would like to thank The ExtraMural Program (KV Branch); all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at St. Joesph’s Hospital and the Saint John Regional Hospital; Kelly Dunfield (NP), Sus Health Center; Ambulance New Brunswick and the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department. Finally we would like to thank Dr. Wildish and Dr. Mackin from the Palliative Care Program who treated Mom with such care and compassion. The family would like to thank all of those health professionals who were involved in Mom’s care – their hard work and dedication was very much appreciated.
Lynn is survived by her children: Susan Lanteigne (Andrew) of Hampton, NB, and Andrew Dobson (Jodie) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Kadie Lynn MacDonald (Cameron), Kellen Grace MacDonald and Kyleigh Rachael MacDonald, bonus granddaughters Gabrielle Cormier (Colby) and Gillian Cormier (João) as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lynn was predeceased by her loving husband Carl Dobson; brother Harold Leahy; and sister Patricia Ransome.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB and will be held privately. A private family interment will take place in the spring at Hampton Rural Cemetery, Hampton, NB. Donations in memory of Lynn may be made to the Hampton Food Bank or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
